- Ukrainian president says drone struck people ‘directly’ in park, calling attack ‘pure atrocity’

ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday that Russian strikes in the Kharkiv region had killed six people and injured 14 others, including children.
He said a Shahed drone struck people “directly” in a park near a cafe, calling the attack “pure atrocity.”
“A little girl was killed in a stroller -- her name was Angelina, she was just over a year old, born in August 2025 … Her mother’s name was Inna. She died in the hospital… ” he wrote on US social media platform X.
Zelenskyy urged the US to take a firm stance and apply the Lindsey O. Graham sanctions bill against Russia, while calling on Europe to continue supporting Ukraine.
“You can't think about making money with Russia as long as it continues its asinine war. We ask that sanctions on Russia stay in place as long as the killings continue,” he said, stressing that “Ukraine wants peace.”
Last week US President Donald Trump signed an executive order bypassing sanctions in the law.
Zelenskyy later wrote that 28 substations and other critical energy facilities were hit in Russian strikes, with restoration work underway.
Zelenskyy also reported delays in the delivery of certain “vital supplies” from the US Defense Department.
He also said equipment using Starlink and Starshield services was shutting down at speeds of 130-161 kilometers per hour (81-100 miles per hour) in various sectors of the front, slowing frontline logistics and limiting the use of various drones, particularly mid-strike drones and interceptors targeting jet-powered Shahed drones.
“This must be raised again with our partners at every level today -- speed matters when it comes to protecting lives,” he said, thanking those helping Ukraine.

Zelenskyy also said he met in Kyiv with representatives of US defense company Lockheed Martin to discuss expanding supplies of Patriot air defense systems and F-16 fighter jets.
He said both systems play an important role in defending Ukraine against Russian ballistic missiles and jet-powered Shahed drones, stressing that “things are not easy with either right now.”
The company is boosting production of ballistic missile interceptors, Zelenskyy said, adding that Ukraine hopes to purchase some of them to strengthen its defenses. Kyiv is also seeking to ensure that F-16 maintenance and repairs can be carried out in Ukraine.
