ANKARA (AA) - Three brothers, including two prominent luxury real estate agents, were each sentenced to 30 years in prison for operating a yearslong sex trafficking and sexual abuse scheme that targeted women and minors, the US Justice Department said Tuesday.
US District Judge Valerie Caproni sentenced Tal Alexander, 40, and twins Oren and Alon Alexander, 39, in Manhattan federal court following their convictions on multiple federal sex offenses.
Each brother was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release following his prison term.
The three were convicted on all counts on March 9 following a six-week trial, including on charges of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.
According to evidence presented at trial, the brothers worked together and with others from at least 2008 until 2021 to drug, sexually assault and rape numerous women.
Oren and Tal Alexander used their prominence in the luxury real estate industry and their social and financial connections in New York and Miami to create opportunities to target women, prosecutors said.
The brothers and their associates recruited women through social media, dating applications, personal encounters and party promoters. Victims were offered luxury travel, accommodations and access to exclusive parties before being taken to private locations.
Prosecutors said the brothers secretly placed sedative drugs in some women’s drinks, leaving them with impaired movement, speech and memory and preventing them from resisting or escaping.
In several cases, the victims were physically restrained while one or more of the brothers assaulted them, despite their cries and explicit demands that they stop.
The scheme also involved women the brothers encountered at bars, nightclubs and social events, according to the Justice Department.
“Alon, Oren, and Tal Alexander are convicted sex traffickers and serial rapists,” US Attorney Jamie McDonald said in a statement.
McDonald said they had used “their careers and social status to conceal the danger they posed” and praised the victims who came forward.
Alon Alexander was sentenced for crimes including sex trafficking a minor and aggravated sexual abuse. Oren Alexander’s convictions included the sexual exploitation of a minor, while Tal Alexander was sentenced for offenses involving several victims, including a minor.
The three continued to deny drugging, raping or trafficking women during the sentencing hearing.
