ISTANBUL (AA) - Borussia Dortmund scored a late equalizer to secure a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich on Saturday in Week 8 of the German Bundesliga, with Harry Kane missing a penalty for the hosts.
Fabio Silva struck in the 89th minute to rescue a point for Dortmund after Dayot Upamecano restored Bayern's lead midway through the second half.
Bayern nearly opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Michael Olise struck the post with a powerful effort from the edge of the penalty area.
Dortmund thought they had taken the lead in the 35th minute when Jude Bellingham found the net following a defensive mistake, but the goal, which would have been his first in the Bundesliga, was disallowed after Carney Chukwuemeka fouled goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.
The hosts broke the deadlock three minutes later when Konrad Laimer surged forward down the right and converted the rebound after his initial effort was saved.
Bayern entered halftime up 1-0.
The hosts had an opportunity to double their lead in the 56th minute when 2026 Men's Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane stepped up to take a penalty awarded for a handball by Felix Nmecha, but the English striker struck the crossbar.
Dortmund capitalized on the missed opportunity four minutes later when Chukwuemeka played Serhou Guirassy through on goal, and the forward fired a low shot past Urbig to make it 1-1.
Bayern regained the lead in the 66th minute following a short corner, with Joshua Kimmich delivering a cross that Kane headed back across goal for Upamecano to finish from close range.
Dortmund fought back again in the closing minutes.
Substitute Silva, who replaced Nmecha in the 76th minute, reacted to a loose ball following a partially cleared corner and fired a low shot into the bottom corner in the 89th minute.
Bayern nearly snatched a last-gasp winner in stoppage time when substitute Lennart Karl struck the crossbar from inside the penalty area.
Neither side found a winner as the Bundesliga rivals shared the points.
Bayern Munich remained atop the Bundesliga with 18 points after eight matches, level with second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
