ISTANBUL (AA) - Egypt’s House of Representatives on Monday approved President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s request for military assistance to Saudi Arabia, the state-run Al-Qahera News channel reported.
The approval followed closed-door discussions on authorizing military support to the kingdom, including the possible deployment of troops, amid escalating regional tensions.
The broadcaster did not immediately provide details on the scope of the approved measures or whether they would involve sending Egyptian forces abroad.
Earlier Monday, lawmakers resumed deliberations in a third closed-door session chaired by Parliament Speaker Hisham Badawi, following two meetings held last week at Sisi’s request.
