ISTANBUL (AA) - The German economy expanded by 0.2% in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the previous three-month period, official preliminary data showed on Friday.
The price-, seasonally- and calendar-adjusted increase followed positive economic growth in the first half of the year, according to the Federal Statistical Office.
Final consumption expenditure increased slightly on a quarterly basis after price, seasonal and calendar adjustments.
In contrast, provisional figures indicated a decline in capital formation during the July-September period.
The dynamic trend in German exports observed in the first half of the year slowed noticeably in the third quarter, the statistical office reported.
On an annual basis, Germany's gross domestic product rose by a price-adjusted 1.3% compared with the third quarter of 2025.
Adjusted for both price and calendar effects, annual gross domestic product grew 1.2% in the third quarter.
The statistical office noted that reviews of previous calculations incorporating new statistical information resulted in no revisions to previously published quarterly price-adjusted figures for the first and second quarters of 2026.
