NEW DELHI (AA) - Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff survived a suspected assassination attempt when gunmen opened fire on his car in India's Mumbai city Sunday evening, police said.
Shroff, who was inside the vehicle, escaped unhurt, while his driver and another civilian were injured in the shooting, which was caught on camera.
Officials in the western Indian state of Rajasthan said Monday that three suspects had been detained in connection with the attack.
"We have apprehended all three suspects responsible for the firing. We will soon hand the suspects over to the Mumbai Police," Tejaswani Gautam, a senior police official in Rajasthan's Kota city, told reporters.
The suspects were detained shortly after arriving in Kota by train.
The incident drew condemnation from Bollywood, India's film industry, with a workers' association raising concerns about security.
"The film industry gives livelihood to lakhs of people. If the fear of the underworld continues, leading names may be forced to leave Mumbai," the All Indian Cine Workers Association said on US social media company X.
The association also wrote to India's home minister, demanding security for the actor's family.
"Bollywood will not be allowed to work in the shadow of fear," it said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the incident as a "serious and condemnable matter."
