ISTANBUL (AA) - Israeli artillery fire struck the outskirts of two villages in Syria’s southern Quneitra province on Friday, Syrian state television reported.
State-run Alikhbariah TV said Israeli forces fired an artillery shell toward the northern outskirts of Hamidiyah village in the Quneitra countryside.
In a separate report, the broadcaster said Israeli artillery also targeted the outskirts of western Zubayda village in the same province.
The shelling comes amid continued Israeli military incursions and attacks in southern Syria, particularly in the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa.
On Thursday, Israeli forces shot dead a Syrian civilian with a hearing disability during an incursion into Jamla village in western Daraa province, drawing condemnation from UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Claudio Cordone.
Since the fall of the Bashal al-Assad regime in December 2024, Israel has expanded its military presence in southern Syria, including by occupying the UN-monitored buffer zone established under the 1974 disengagement agreement.
Damascus has repeatedly condemned Israeli military operations as violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
