ISTANBUL (AA) - Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met French President Emmanuel Macron in Riyadh on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international developments, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The meeting took place at the Royal Court in Al-Yamamah Palace, where the two leaders reviewed the historic and strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and France, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
The discussions also covered the latest regional and international developments and coordination of efforts to enhance security and stability, SPA reported.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, National Security Adviser Musaed bin Mohammed al-Aiban and other senior Saudi officials attended the meeting.
The French delegation included Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin and other senior officials.
Macron arrived in Saudi Arabia earlier Wednesday as part of his Gulf tour, according to the Elysee Palace.
He began his tour in Kuwait on Monday before traveling to the United Arab Emirates. He also visited Qatar on Tuesday.
The tour comes amid heightened regional tensions and disruptions to maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which a significant share of global oil supplies passes.
