LONDON (AA) - UK-based Angolan-Portuguese rapper IAMDDB accused Israel of "stealing her identity" after an AI-generated video resembling her appeared on official Israeli government social media accounts.
The Manchester-based musician said Tuesday that AI-generated visuals resembling her had been used in a video shared by the Israeli government.
"I want to make it absolutely clear that I did not authorise, approve, participate in, or consent to my image or likeness being used in this video. I have no involvement in its creation or its message," she wrote on Instagram.
The rapper said she had always approached her music and art from a place of "love, freedom, humanity and connection," adding that she did not support genocide, the killing of innocent people or the suffering of women, children and families.
"My heart is with every innocent person experiencing loss, displacement and violence, especially the Palestinian people who have endured unimaginable suffering," she added.
The now-deleted video, posted on Israel's official social media accounts last week, carried the caption: "'GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!' We did."
The clip featured a singer bearing a striking resemblance to IAMDDB performing a rap titled "Jews from Judea (We DID)" in a packed club.
Responding to the Israeli government's original post on US social media platform X, the rapper wrote: "Hiya yeah so - why did you steal my identity for something I 100% did not consent to?"
According to the Manchester Evening News, similarities between IAMDDB and the AI-generated character were first highlighted by New York-based broadcaster and activist Rafael Shimunov.
Shimunov shared a still from the video alongside an original photograph that he said closely resembled the AI-generated image.
"There is nothing more funny than Israel stealing the identity of a British Angolan-Portuguese singer to create a fake Israeli in an AI video about indigeneity," Shimunov wrote on X.
