ISTANBUL (AA) - Vietnam and Poland on Monday upgraded their relations to a strategic partnership during Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's visit to the Southeast Asian country, local media reported.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung hosted Tusk for official talks in the capital, Hanoi, where the two leaders discussed expanding cooperation in trade, green transition and high-tech sectors.
The two countries agreed on an action plan for 2026-2030 to strengthen bilateral cooperation, according to the Voice of Vietnam news outlet.
Priority areas include green transition, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, space technology and strategic transport infrastructure, it said.
The news outlet said that the two sides also agreed to strengthen "practical cooperation in defense, cybersecurity, responses to non-traditional security challenges, and the fight against high-tech and transnational crime."
Hung and Tusk set a target of $6 billion in bilateral trade by 2030, seeking to leverage the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement to expand economic ties.
Vietnam and Poland established diplomatic relations in 1950, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $4 billion last year.
Tusk is scheduled to conclude his three-day visit to Vietnam on Monday, his first trip to the country in 16 years. He last visited Vietnam in 2010.
