Storks adapt to climate change by wintering at revived Kabakli Pond in Turkiye's Diyarbakir
DIYARBAKIR, TURKIYE - OCTOBER 14: White storks forage along the shores of Kabakli Pond on the Dicle University campus in Diyarbakir, Turkiye on October 14, 2026. Following seasonal rainfall that replenished the wetland, portion of the stork population that arrived in spring for breeding elected to winter in the region rather than completing their annual autumn migration to the Nile Valley due to global climate change and milder winter conditions.
