PRISTINA, KOSOVO - OCT. 28, 2026: Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Pristina, Kosovo, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, demanding concrete measures to prevent femicide following the killing of a woman on Oct. 25.
Organized by the Feminist Thought and Action Collective, protesters marched toward government and judicial buildings, throwing red paint and smoke bombs at the buildings.
Demonstrators criticized authorities for their handling of violence against women and demanded accountability for officials who failed to protect victims.
The protest followed the killing of 49-year-old Arlinda Zekaj, allegedly by her brother-in-law, despite her reported warnings to authorities.
Kosovo's parliament established an investigative committee on Oct. 26 to examine possible institutional failures in the case.
