WEST BANK, PALESTINE - OCT. 21: Israeli forces declared the town of Turmusayya in the northern occupied West Bank a closed military zone, preventing Palestinian farmers from accessing their agricultural land during the olive harvest.
Palestinian farmers attempted to harvest their olives despite restrictions and raids by Israeli forces and Israeli settlers.
Local farmer Ataullah Abu Awad told Anadolu that Palestinians had been prevented from accessing their farmland for three years, stressing that they would not abandon their land despite the restrictions.
Abu Awad said protecting their land and olive trees was more important than the harvest itself, urging other landowners to continue visiting and caring for their properties.
Turmusayya municipal spokesperson Yasser Alqam said Israeli soldiers and border police had been deployed in the town alongside Israeli settlers who prevented farmers from reaching their olive groves.
He said the closed military zone designation had effectively barred residents from accessing their agricultural land and harvesting their crops.
Israeli forces also declared the village of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah, a closed military zone, preventing residents from reaching their farmland.
Attacks by illegal Israeli occupiers against Palestinians and their agricultural lands have intensified during the olive harvest season, which began in early October and provides a vital source of income for thousands of Palestinian families.
According to Palestinian figures, approximately 750,000 Israeli occupiers live in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, across 194 settlements and around 400 settlement outposts.
Israeli settlements built on occupied Palestinian territory are illegal under international law.
Palestinian, Israeli and international human rights organizations have repeatedly accused Israeli authorities of failing to prevent attacks by occupiers or hold those responsible accountable, despite repeated assaults on Palestinians, their homes, farmland and property.
