Rare lenticular clouds form over mountainous Hakkari in southeastern Türkiye

HAKKARI, TÜRKİYE - OCT. 20, 2026: Lens-shaped lenticular clouds appeared over the mountainous terrain of southeastern Türkiye’s Hakkari province on Tuesday, Oct. 20, creating smooth, saucer-like formations that local observers frequently compare to unidentified flying objects.

Meaning as "lens-shaped" the rarest lenticular clouds are often mistaken for UFOs.

They are formed near mountains or hills when the air is stable and moist.
