HAVANA, CUBA — OCT. 29, 2026: Cuban parkour athlete Noel Alejandro Cruz Rodriguez, known locally by his nickname "The Boss," continues to hone his discipline across the streets of Havana despite severe economic challenges facing the island nation.
The UN General Assembly on Wednesday adopted a resolution calling for an end to the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the US against Cuba.
A total of 130 countries, including Türkiye, voted in favor of the draft resolution calling for the lifting of the embargo on Cuba. Seventeen countries, including the US, Israel, Ukraine, Argentina, and the United Arab Emirates, voted against it, while 25 countries abstained from voting.
The United States has maintained the embargo against Cuba for more than six decades. It was formally established in February 1962 under then-President John F. Kennedy.
