KATMANDU, NEPAL - OCT. 21: Thousands of Hindu devotees gathered at Brahmayani Temple in Bhaktapur, Nepal, on Wednesday (Oct. 21) to celebrate Vijaya Dashami, the tenth and main day of the Dashain festival.
The annual Brahmayani Jatra draws worshippers from Bhaktapur and neighboring districts to offer prayers and seek blessings for happiness, peace and prosperity.
Devotees presented traditional offerings, including sacred Jamara, flowers and eggs, while some observed fasting or crawled and rolled along the ground toward the temple as acts of devotion.
Others carried lit oil lamps on their bodies as part of religious rituals, accompanied by traditional Newar music.
Dedicated to Goddess Brahmayani, the temple is an important Hindu shrine associated with the Navadurga traditions. The celebrations reflect the religious and cultural heritage of Nepal's Newar community.
