DARAA, SYRIA - OCT. 27: Mourners gathered in southern Syria’s Daraa province on Tuesday, Oct. 27, for the funerals of civilians killed in Jordanian airstrikes the previous night.
Relatives and residents of nearby villages attended the ceremony in Al-Taff village. Bodies arrived by ambulance before mourners carried them on their shoulders to the cemetery, where they were laid side by side for funeral prayers before burial.
Members of parliament from Daraa also attended. Mourners chanted slogans demanding accountability for the strikes, which killed seven civilians, including children, according to the Anadolu report accompanying the footage.
Syrian authorities condemned the strikes and temporarily closed the Nasib border crossing with Jordan.
Jordan said its air force had targeted Daesh positions in southern Syria in retaliation for an attack on a church in Karak. It expressed regret over the civilian deaths.
