Trial of French MEP Rima Hassan over alleged glorification of terrorism enters second day

PARIS, FRANCE - OCT. 20, 2026: The trial of French-Palestinian European Parliament member Rima Hassan over alleged glorification of terrorism entered its second day in Paris on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Hassan arrived at the Paris courthouse accompanied by her lawyer, Vincent Brengarth.

The case stems from a social media post published on March 26 and later deleted, quoting Kozo Okamoto, a former member of the Japanese Red Army who took part in the 1972 attack at Tel Aviv airport that killed 26 people.

Hassan was taken into police custody on April 2 as part of an investigation into the post. She has denounced the proceedings as politically motivated.
