Ukraine: 1 dead, 10 injured in Russian strike on Slovyansk

SLOVYANSK, UKRAINE - OCT. 17: At least one killed in and 10 others were injured in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, authorities said on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Russian airstrike on a residential neighborhood in Slovyansk killed one person and injured 10 others, city military administration chief Vadym Lyakh said on US social media platform Facebook.

He said eight apartment buildings were damaged, two of them partially destroyed, and people remained trapped under the rubble.

Since the start of the conflict in February 2022, Russia and Ukraine have held numerous rounds of peace talks, including several mediated by the US in early 2026, but no breakthrough has been achieved due to fundamental disagreements over territory.
