ISTANBUL (AA) - US tech firm Amazon announced plans to invest €16 billion ($18 billion) in Germany in 2027 to expand its cloud, artificial intelligence (AI) and logistics infrastructure.
The company announced the investment on Tuesday at the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin, noting that the new funding will cover jobs, technology and regional infrastructure.
Since 2010, Amazon has invested more than €100 billion ($112.5 billion) in Germany, creating more than 40,000 permanent jobs across more than 100 sites in the country.
As part of the package, the firm will expand its Amazon Web Services Europe region in Frankfurt to meet growing demand for advanced cloud and AI services.
The new investment will also support satellite connectivity through Amazon Leo, logistics expansion across the country and new original content for Prime Video.
German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche welcomed the announcement, saying that high-performance data centers serve as the foundation of the digital economy.
