ISTANBUL (AA) - US artificial intelligence company Anthropic introduced Claude Duet on Wednesday, a proactive AI agent designed to independently manage tasks on behalf of users.
Powered by Claude Opus 5.5, the assistant targets professionals and small business owners, offering daily briefings and handling tasks ranging from scheduling meetings to preparing financial forecasts and building web applications.
"Claude Duet comes to you with what needs your attention, completes tasks you ask of it, keeps working even when you step away, and checks with you before it acts on your behalf," Anthropic said in its announcement.
The agent operates through a browser-equipped virtual machine, allowing it to continue working even when users' devices are switched off, according to the company.
Anthropic said Claude Duet requires user approval before sending messages, making payments, signing documents or deleting information.
The company also introduced safeguards against unauthorized disclosure of sensitive data, including credit card numbers and government identification details.
Anthropic opened a waitlist Wednesday for a research preview of Claude Duet, initially limited to Pro and Max subscribers in the US.
The company has yet to announce when the assistant will become more widely available.
The launch follows Meta's introduction of Muse and OpenAI's Dots in September, as major AI companies compete to develop proactive assistants capable of performing tasks on users' behalf.
