BRUSSELS (AA) - At least 83 people were injured after a passenger bus plunged down a 20-meter embankment in Spain's northeastern Barcelona province, according to local authorities on Monday.
The accident occurred Sunday on a narrow and winding route when the bus veered off the road and fell down a steep slope in Fogars de Montclus for reasons that remain under investigation, public broadcaster RTVE reported.
Catalonia's Health Minister Olga Pane said 58 people sustained minor injuries, 18 were moderately injured and seven were seriously hurt.
No fatalities have been reported yet.
However, officials warned that the possibility of additional casualties could not be ruled out, citing the difficult terrain surrounding the crash site.
The bus was operating as a shuttle service between Montseny Natural Park and Fogars de Montclus, making several stops along the route and picking up passengers.
