ISTANBUL (AA) - Germany's producer prices of industrial products rose 6.7% year-on-year in September, marking the largest annual increase since March 2023, official data showed on Tuesday.
The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported that producer prices increased by 1.9% on a monthly basis in September.
The agency attributed the annual surge primarily to a 14.9% jump in energy prices.
Energy prices climbed 5.8% from August as the conflict in Iran and the Middle East heavily impacted the markets.
The cost of mineral oil products skyrocketed by 51.3% from September 2025 and increased by 8.2% from August 2026.
Heating oil prices surged 91.8% while motor fuels became 48.6% more expensive during the same period.
Higher metal prices fueled a 6.4% annual increase in the cost of intermediate goods.
Capital goods cost 2.4% more and durable consumer goods registered a 2.2% price increase from a year earlier.
Non-durable consumer goods prices dropped 1.8% year-on-year, largely due to a 4.1% decline in food prices.
Excluding energy, producer prices went up 3.2% from September 2025 and edged up 0.1% from August.
