ISTANBUL (AA) – Honduran authorities have received arrest warrants for former Congress President Luis Redondo and former state printing company chief Edis Moncada, El Heraldo daily reported Friday.
Honduran Deputy Security Minister Rommel Martinez confirmed that police received the judicial orders late Thursday, it said.
Police units are working to execute the warrants, but Martinez said neither man had been arrested as of Friday.
El Heraldo reported that an international arrest alert was also issued for Redondo, who is outside Honduras.
The warrants stem from a case brought by prosecutors against 14 current and former lawmakers and officials for decisions by Congress’ former Permanent Commission.
Redondo faces four charges, including unlawful interference with the functioning of institutions, usurpation of functions, and two counts of breach of official duties.
Moncada, former head of the National Graphic Arts Company, is accused of breaching official duties in connection with decisions the commission made in 2025.
The investigation concerns actions the commission took during the 2022-2026 legislative term, including decisions prosecutors said exceeded its constitutional powers.
The case also involves a decree ordering a recount of votes from the 2025 general elections, a process that falls under the responsibility of the National Electoral Council.
Prosecutors have filed charges involving 21 alleged offenses against the 14 people named in the case.
