ISTANBUL (AA) - Iranian hacking group Handala has claimed it stole 150 gigabytes of confidential data after breaching a system used to store sensitive Israeli government and military recordings and files, Iran’s Fars news agency reported on Sunday.
The group targeted the “E-Type” system, developed by Israeli technology company Malam, and seized audio recordings and transcripts of confidential court hearings, police investigations and security-related material.
Handala said the system was designed to transcribe and archive recordings of confidential judicial proceedings and police investigations, and contained information and documents relating to thousands of judicial and security cases.
The group claimed it breached the system through a multilayered supply chain attack, gaining access to all its audio recordings and transcripts.
Handala also said it made 150 gigabytes of confidential data available for direct download on its website as evidence of the breach.
The group’s statement referred to Israel’s elections and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security pledges, describing the alleged seizure of confidential recordings as a “severe blow” to Israel’s security infrastructure.
There was no immediate comment from Israeli authorities or Malam on the claims reported by Fars.
