ISTANBUL (AA) - The Ligue 1 match between Olympique Lyonnais and Angers SCO has been postponed from Saturday to Sunday amid nationwide protests in France, the French Professional Football League (LFP) announced Tuesday.
The ninth-round fixture, originally scheduled for Oct. 31 at 8.45 pm local time (1945GMT), will now take place Nov. 1 at 5.15 pm (1615GMT), following a request from the Rhone Prefecture, the league said in a statement.
The decision comes ahead of further demonstrations planned across France on Saturday over rising living costs and conditions in schools, placing additional demands on police and security forces.
Two other Ligue 1 matches originally scheduled for Saturday have also been rescheduled, with Nice-Rennes moved forward to Friday, Oct. 30, and Lorient-Brest postponed until Monday, Nov. 2.
Hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated across France last Saturday, Oct. 24.
The changes follow last weekend's postponement of Paris Saint-Germain's home match against Lyon from Sunday to Monday over security concerns linked to the protests.
