ISTANBUL (AA) - Prediction market platform Polymarket temporarily suspended trading on its international platform Thursday following a security incident involving a third-party vendor, according to The Washington Post.
The platform halted trading for approximately an hour after reports that funds had been drained from some cryptocurrency wallets, triggering concerns among members of its official Discord community.
Polymarket said affected users would be fully reimbursed, noting that anyone impacted by the incident “will be made whole.”
The company moved its international platform into cancel-only mode, allowing users to cancel existing transactions while preventing them from placing new trade orders.
The security issue involved DebugBear, a third-party performance monitoring and debugging platform, according to a person familiar with the matter cited by The Washington Post.
Polymarket reported the incident to authorities in the UK, where DebugBear is based.
"We are aware of a security incident affecting DebugBear and are treating it as a top priority," DebugBear acknowledged on the US social media platform X.
It reaffirmed that they had engaged specialist cyber incident response support and would work with affected customers directly.
