ISTANBUL (AA) - Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis and his North Korean counterpart Choe Son Hui discussed resuming political dialogue Friday in Pyongyang, a day after Switzerland reopened its diplomatic office in the North Korean capital.
The ministers also discussed the office's operating format, regularizing political contacts, security on the Korean Peninsula and broader challenges across Eurasia, Cassis said in a social media post.
Cassis also met Jo Yong Won, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, to discuss developments in North Korea and prospects for strengthening bilateral ties.
The two welcomed the restoration of Switzerland's diplomatic presence in Pyongyang.
North Korea is expected to issue a statement Saturday.
Switzerland, which has a longstanding policy of neutrality, established diplomatic relations with North Korea in 1974.
