ISTANBUL (AA) – Urging dialogue to promote peace, the Swiss foreign minister arrived in the North Korean capital Pyongyang on Thursday to reestablish a diplomatic office.
The office's official reopening is a "concrete step towards strengthening direct dialogue" with North Korea, Ignazio Cassis said on US social media platform X.
"Dialogue remains essential for peace and stability in the region," he added.
It is unclear whether the office will be a full-fledged embassy or lower-level mission.
Switzerland, famed for its long-standing policy of international neutrality, first established diplomatic ties with North Korea in 1974.
