ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlioglu will miss the remainder of the 2026 MotoGP season after medical exams confirmed that a shoulder injury sustained during the Indonesian Grand Prix requires surgery, Prima Pramac Yamaha announced Tuesday.
The 30-year-old underwent further medical assessments in Milan on Monday after dislocating his right shoulder in a highside crash during practice for the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika earlier this month.
Exams revealed that the injury was more serious than initially believed, prompting the decision to schedule surgery in Milan for next Monday.
Razgatlioglu will then begin rehabilitation, ruling him out of the final five rounds of the championship, starting with this weekend's Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island.
"I'm extremely disappointed to miss the Australian Grand Prix. Phillip Island is one of my favourite circuits and a place where I've enjoyed some very special moments during my Superbike career," Razgatlioglu said in a team statement.
"This wasn't an easy decision, but after consulting with the doctors and the people closest to me, we are convinced it is the right step for my future," he added.
Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez is set to replace Razgatlioglu for the remaining races, beginning with the Australian Grand Prix.
Razgatlioglu, a three-time World Superbike champion, joined Prima Pramac Yamaha for the 2026 season, marking his debut campaign in MotoGP.
