ISTANBUL (AA) - Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense issued early warnings Thursday in parts of the country’s southwest over unspecified dangers before later announcing that the threats had passed.
The Civil Defense said a warning was issued through the National Early Warning Platform in Khamis Mushait Governorate in Aseer Province to alert residents of a potential danger.
In subsequent notices, it announced that the danger had passed in the governorate as well as in Abha City in Aseer Province.
It urged residents to continue following safety instructions and to avoid gathering at affected areas or filming.
The Civil Defense also warned that filming, publishing or sharing information related to efforts to counter missiles and drones as well as their impact sites could expose individuals to legal liability.
The notices did not provide details on the nature or cause of the reported dangers.
The alerts came amid escalating hostilities between Yemen’s Houthi group and the Saudi-led coalition, with recent attacks targeting airports and energy facilities in the Kingdom.
Earlier Thursday, Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority said two people were killed and eight others injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam in the Eastern Province.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation said airport operations later resumed and air traffic returned to normal, without specifying the nature of the attack.
A day earlier, the Saudi Energy Ministry said two people were killed and two others injured by falling debris after air defenses intercepted a drone targeting an Aramco facility at the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province.
The Saudi-led coalition also said Wednesday that it intercepted and destroyed five drones launched toward the Kingdom, including in the Eastern Province and Medina region.
