ISTANBUL (AA) – The Swiss foreign minister reestablished a diplomatic mission in the North Korean capital Pyongyang on Thursday as he urged dialogue to promote peace.
Ignazio Cassis said on US social media platform X that reopening the office is a "concrete step towards strengthening direct dialogue" with North Korea.
"Dialogue remains essential for peace and stability in the region," he added.
It is unclear whether the office will be a full-fledged embassy or a lower-level mission.
Switzerland, famed for its long-standing policy of international neutrality, first established ties with North Korea in 1974.
