MOSCOW/ISTANBUL (AA) - Ukraine said Thursday that at least 14 people were killed and 14 injured in a Russian drone attack on a railway station in the city of Dnipro.
Dnipropetrovsk Gov. Oleksandr Hanzha said in an initial statement on Telegram that 13 people were killed and five injured in the attack, later updating the death toll and the number injured to 14 each.
Hanzha said all but one of the injured have been hospitalized, and six are in serious condition.
The national railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia said a drone struck one of the platforms where a train was located.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the attack as a "terrorist strike," questioning the number of Russian strikes in Ukraine amid recent decisions to lift several sanctions imposed on Moscow.
"This is precisely why Ukraine has always said that just and decisive action by America and Europe is needed in response to Russian escalation – sanctions against Moscow and its war machine must not be eased for as long as this Russian war continues," Zelenskyy wrote on US social media company X.
Russian authorities have not commented on Ukraine's statements or the attack.
